The Parade heads off

In 2010 the Big Arts Festival is definitely going to live up to its name. Thanks to support from Extended Services this year’s festival will be bigger, better and working hard to involve every school and education setting in Plymouth!

Now in its 11th year, the Big Arts Festival 2010 has grown to meet the Children’s Trust’s ‘Plymouth Promise’ of an annual creative arts event for all the children in the city. Leading up to the festival professional artists will be working with young people and their teachers to offer a huge range of exciting creative activities. These will then culminate in 8 fun-packed Art of the Community events in different Plymouth localities, involving young people, their families and communities.

Weird and Wonderful

As well as these events there will be other major activities that bring children together from all over the city and (in one case) from all over the world. These include:

  • The massive Big Arts Day at Plymouth Pavilions with children’s performance and hands-on art under the same roof.

  • The spectacular international Big Carnival Parade in the City Centre, bringing together children from local schools and young people from across the globe attending the ARROW World Congress at UCP Marjon

  • Plym Youth Fest at Saltram House. A full-on music festival for 13-19 year olds coordinated by Plymouth City Council Youth Service and Plymouth Musician’s Collective and hosted by the National Trust.
